"Soul and Sumi"
You don't just paint what you see. You paint what you feel. Painting with soul is of the fundamental sumi painting and calligraphy.
Sumi calligraphy reaches for the optimal level of expression with dynamic, free yet the most strict soul controlled brush strokes. The simplicity but spiritual richness is the law of sumi.
In this workshop, you will be introduced an authentic oriental perception of which to approach and feel the “object” you want to express in sumi style through your playful and tender inner world.
You will also be introduced to the philosophy and theory of sumi painting and calligraphy. Brief history of seal carving and usage of chops will be lectured. Demo and hands-on individual instruction are the teaching method of the workshop. You will be assured of learning some basic skills and techniques of sumi painting.
Please contact us for more information or to arrange for a workshop or private lessons.
